A Charming Retreat in Alentejo, Room for Improvement at Herdade do SobrosoDuring my recent Easter getaway to Herdade do Sobroso, I was drawn to the region's enchanting landscapes and vibrant culinary heritage. The breathtaking views from the outdoor salt-water pool are indeed captivating, offering a serene backdrop for relaxation and reflection, especially while savoring the remarkable wines produced on-site, steeped in the rich terroir of Alentejo. Our experiences in the restaurant were delightful, with a commendable array of traditional dishes, though the ambience occasionally felt constrained by the degrees of service and attentiveness from the staff. Our experience was somewhat hindered by the cramped room accommodations and a rather basic breakfast that fell short of the lavish expectations set by the local gastronomy scene. Despite these minor setbacks, the welcoming atmosphere created by the staff truly shone through-Julio, in particular, exemplified a level of hospitality that made us feel valued and appreciated throughout our stay. Herdade do Sobroso is a lovely place to explore Alentejo's charm, though I believe some areas could benefit from a more polished approach to guest comfort and dining experiences.
